Project Overview

Project Summary:

POLI is an AI service designed to simplify cybercrime handling, making it no longer challenging for anyone. It provides consultations, rapidly delivers legal information tailored to the victim, and auto-completes a Police report for immediate filing. This service simplifies the complex, time-consuming report process and provides optimized guides for various cybercrime types, outperforming any current system. Moreover, the quick sharing of victim data facilitates both short and long-term crime tracking by the police, contributing to solving societal issues related to cybercrime.

Identifying the Challenge

The Social Problem:

Cybercrime is growing rapidly, diversifying, and affecting younger victims. The online nature of cybercrime makes early response critical due to evidence volatility and fast damage spread. However, current systems' limitations hinder such responses. Unfamiliar legal information and complex report filing processes cause inefficiency. Additionally, numerous consultation and reporting channels complicate identifying the most suitable for victims, significantly increasing their online search time and early response fatigue.

Innovation and Uniqueness

Why Our Project Stands Out:

POLI significantly reduces the fatigue associated with early responses by quickly sharing information optimized for victims through consultation and automatically generating Police report during the consultation. Moreover, everything from consultation to complaint filing and reporting can be done through POLI, reducing the duration from the traditional minimum of 8 hours to 3 days to about 1 hour. Additionally, the swift transmission of data can assist police in both short and long-term crime tracking.

Insights and Development

Learning Journey:

Through in-depth interviews with victims, we identified the inconveniences of the current cybercrime response system. Despite the importance of quick initial responses in preventing further damage, complex reporting procedures and a lack of legal information among victims make it difficult to report quickly. We identified that simplifying the consultation and reporting process through an AI-based chatbot could significantly impact minimizing the blind spots in victim relief.

Development Process:

Our project used an iterative development approach, starting with conceptual design to define the chatbot's features and user experience. We prototyped using NLP and dialogue management, training the chatbot with cybercrime reports and legal terms. Throughout, we collaborated with stakeholders and end-users for feedback to improve performance. We implemented strategies like error handling and fallback mechanisms, aiming to build a robust, user-friendly system.
