Project Overview

Project Summary:

Our project deals with a 'well-dying' culture that beautifully organizes life. However, existing services were more focused on funeral arrangements than on the value of death, or were constrained by time/space/economy/health.

To compensate for this, we designed it to talk with MORI, a finely tuned generative AI, and look back on life. In addition, the portrait photography service using FaceSwap API technology provides convenience to people with physical and environmental restrictions.

We hope that the 'Memo' app will help us look at our lives more valuable in the future.

Identifying the Challenge

The Social Problem:

With South Korea entering an aging society and the extension of old age, interest in 'Well-Dying,' or dying well, is growing. ‘Well-Dying’ emphasizes the value of life and the process leading to death. However, existing services focus on uneral preparations and face constraints related to time, space, and health. Our 'Memo' app seeks to address this gap by raising awareness of 'well-dying' and encouraging self-determination and a life of value.

Innovation and Uniqueness

Why Our Project Stands Out:

Beyond mere bucket lists or funeral preparations, our project differentiates itself through a finely-tuned generative AI, MORI, creating rapport with users. Conversations with MORI help users alleviate fears and anxieties, preparing for a healthy and happy later life. Additionally, our portrait service offers greater convenience to those with physical or environmental limitations. This isn't just about merging faces; it utilizes deep learning-based Face-swap API technology to produce more natural-looking photographs.

Insights and Development

Learning Journey:

We realized that thinking about life and death allowed us to see the rest of our lives positively and wanted to help us look back on our lives through AI. However, Expert feedback indicated our app needed more reasons for ongoing use. We learned that the elderly had a desire to leave a mark, so encouraged continued participation in the app by connecting their autobiography to the service.

Development Process:

Our app was built with React Native and Firebase. We trained our generative AI, using OpenAI Fine Tuning for user interactions. Voice conversations are powered by React-Native Voice, while ChatGPT and DALL-E handle summarization and card cover creation. Longevity portraits are created using a Face Swap API. Despite compatibility challenges, We found solutions and successfully completed the project with teamwork.
