Project Overview

Project Summary:

"Daranghae" is a service aimed at assisting in the prevention of dementia among the elderly. Elderly individuals utilizing this service engage in exchanging letters with their children, concurrently solving memory quizzes derived from the letters written by their children daily. Additionally, they can communicate with various young individuals through the "Communication Platform". Through these activities, improvements in both the cognitive and mental health of the elderly are fostered, consequently leading to effective dementia prevention. The application interface is developed using Flutter, while the quiz generation functionality is implemented using Google's Gemini.

Identifying the Challenge

The Social Problem:

Korea is moving toward an unprecedented aging society we cannot stop. We want to solve the 'dementia problem' among the problems caused by aging. Due to the nature of dementia, an aging society causes a situation in which a significant number of people are exposed to the risk of dementia. In conclusion, preventing dementia is directly related to the integrity of the social structure and the happiness of its members.

Innovation and Uniqueness

Why Our Project Stands Out:

"Daranghae" differs greatly from other dementia prevention services in that, first, it provides user-customized diary-based quizzes using prompt engineering and generative artificial intelligence. Second, it provides a user-friendly communication platform for the elderly, through natural connection to the communication platform within the app, starting with connecting with family members. It is a groundbreaking item that combines dementia prevention and communication.

Insights and Development

Learning Journey:

In the initial stages, we intended to utilize fine-tuning; however, we faced issues regarding costs. To overcome this and gain a competitive edge as a business model, we resorted to employing prompt engineering. The ability to implement various tones of speech for AI assistants through inexpensive costs and simple prompt adjustments becomes a strength of Daranghae.

Development Process:

Specifying the service through Figma, development was carried out and cooperation was achieved through the clear vision of the members. Through Python, we developed a model for comment generation, a diary-based cognitive quiz generation model, and algorithms. Prototypes can be released after connecting to the backend, and we will distribute customized UIs for elderly users when it is released.
