Project Overview
Project Summary:
To prevent traffic accidents caused by the elderly, a project to add 'senior mode' to general navigation was planned. The elderly risk index is expressed in various colors so that you can intuitively understand the risk. In addition, there are hospital connection and customized voice guidance functions through the emergency button on the navigation screen. Also, there are games and education tabs to check driving ability, and chatbot TENGOO, a generative AI that allows the elderly to obtain information through real-time conversation.
Identifying the Challenge
The Social Problem:
Currently, the number of elderly drivers in Korea is increasing due to the super-aged society. Although traffic accidents caused by the elderly are increasing due to the deterioration of the physical ability of elderly drivers, the current policy is not feasible and policy considerations for traffic safety are insufficient. Therefore, it is intended to help elderly drivers drive safely by considering the factors that are dangerous to elderly drivers.
Innovation and Uniqueness
Why Our Project Stands Out:
We proposed senior-centric navigation for existing navigation that lacks consideration for seniors. We considered the interface for older drivers and added easy access through switching modes. We also added guidance elements that can be particularly dangerous for the elderly and integrated other games and education to make it all available at once. Seniors have access to AI through voice recognition, offering them intuitive ways to engage with technology.
Insights and Development
Learning Journey:
While initially developing the app's UI, the team included features that seniors needed, but overlooked ease of use. To address this, the team conducted research on the digital barriers faced by older users, prototyped, and gained insights by experiencing the app as users. During this process, they realized the importance of considering the user's perspective when generating ideas.
Development Process:
Using R, the risk index was calculated by analyzing data on factors that make older adults particularly vulnerable. We then visualized the map, using color-coding to make it more intuitive. Using Figma, we implemented the analysis into the app, adding additional technologies such as AI emergency services, games, and education, all with the user flow in mind.
